Skyview Friday Message 9.8
Happy Friday Eagles!
"A good head and a good heart are always a formidable combination." - Nelson Mandela
What a great launch to the 23-24 school year. Thank you, families, for trusting us with your children. Our Skyview WEB coordinators and student WEB leaders did an excellent job of making sure that our incoming 6th graders understand that Skyview is a place Where Everyone Belongs.
This week we started kicking off our Skyview Roadshow to teach students their Rights and Responsibilities (R&R) to ensure that they understand the campus behavior expectations. We end the roadshows with an all school expectations & school safety assembly next Friday. During the assembly, students will have the opportunity to practice emergency evacuation procedures in case of an emergency. They will learn how to exit their classrooms and the building. Students will also learn where to assemble outside for reunification and attendance verification. It is important that your student take all drills seriously and understand practice is essential for their safety. The Scoop is our daily all school announcements. We have a student leader and school admin read important information to ensure that students are informed and aware of what is happening at Skyview. The Scoop also ensures that all students are learning the same things all together as a school community. This week we focused on our when you arrive to 2:35 pm cell phone policy to teach students that cell phones should be out of sight and put away when arriving on campus. Teachers share their classroom cell phone policy directly with students and are encouraged to highlight the policy in their class syllabus. Another tool that we will be utilizing in the coming week is The Perch. The Perch is our student-ran news show that is used to communicate school announcements and other important information.
