  • The 23-24 Skyview Middle School yearbook is now on sale through September 18th.We promise you won't want to miss out on this edition! This is the first of two pre-sale windows, if you do not pre-order you are not guaranteed a yearbook in June, and last year we SOLD OUT. 

    • Yearbooks are $30 with an ASB card and $35 without.

  • 9/20: Early Release Wednesday and Open House at SMS from 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.

    • This event is for Parent/Guardians only; students need not attend as classroom space is limited. 

    • We will also offer a pre-open house for our hispanic/latin/o/a/x families at 6pm.

  • Hispanic/Latin/o/a/x Celebration: We are looking for volunteers to help us plan and host a fantastic event to celebrate this occasion. If you are interested, please email Mrs. Andrews (kandrews3@nsd.org)

  • Calling all student historians! The Skyview Middle School National History Day club will meet after school on Tuesdays in the library beginning on Tuesday, September 26th. This year's theme is "Turning Points in History." To find out more about our National History Day club, please see Ms. Sundt or Ms. Maleki. We look forward to seeing you in the library after school on 9/26.

Skyview Athletics

News from ATTENDANCE OFFICE

Your child’s daily attendance and active participation at school are important for their success in learning and belonging at Skyview! Visit here Attendance web page for policies & guidelines.

 
  • Parents/guardians please notify the Attendance Office to excuse absences (within 48 hours per WA State Law) as promptly as possible. Include your student’s full name and student ID# to:

 email: smsattendance@nsd.org or call 425-408-6810 (24 hour voicemail line).

  • Late Arrival: Students must go to the Attendance Office to sign in on Late Arrival iPad: scan school photo ID card or enter schoology login. Parents/guardians should excuse late arrivals on the same day, as early as possible, with a note, voicemail or email to the Attendance Office.

  • Early Dismissal:  Pre-arrange in advance by sending a signed note with your student or an email to the Attendance Office, preferably in the morning, your student will receive a hall pass to give to their teacher and meet parents/guardians at the planned time. You must provide a valid photo ID. Note: our parking lot is busy after school; early dismissals during the last 15 minutes of school must be pre-arranged.

  • Unexcused Absences: ParentSquare sends email or text notifications when your student is marked as absent in any class periods. If you believe your student was marked absent by their teacher in error, first talk to your student, then contact the teacher to correct it within 2-school days.

Ptsa Publications

Join PTSA today - $15 for a single or $27 for a joint membership! Skyview PTSA supports students and staff needs by funding staff grants, coordinating volunteers for events, conducting community building and parent education events, and offering programs (Food Pantry, Reflections Art Contest, Spelling Bee, etc.) to build a stronger, more fun, and more inclusive Skyview community. Become a member by 10/1, and you'll be entered into a gift card drawing! Thanks in advance for supporting all Skyview kids!

 

Food Pantry: The Food Pantry supports families in the Skyview and North Creek communities. Food is delivered every other Wednesday and this is an incredible resource for our families.

 

Spelling Bee:

Does your student love participating in the Spelling Bee? We currently do not have anyone to run this year’s Spelling Bee. If we do not get a volunteer to run this event by October 1, we unfortunately will not have a Bee this year. If you are interested, please reach out to PTSA President, Amandeep Sohal - remember you can sign up with a friend!

More Tips for Students. Have a wonderful weekend! 

The SMS Counseling Team

  • Homework Tips for Students:  *Do your homework.  *Schedule your time wisely.  *Allot a certain amount of time every night for homework and study.  *Don’t wait until an assignment is due - start early.  *Keep track of your homework assignments and their due dates. Check Schoology.  *If you are absent, check Schoology for missed work and check in with your teachers the day you return.  *If you schedule your time wisely, you shouldn’t have to spend too much time doing homework. 

  • Belly Breathing: A calming technique for big and little feelings. Review this video with your student(s) to help them learn how to calm down when they are experiencing tough feelings: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xq3DwzX6MUw 

  • FREE Education for Parents & Guardians: ParentMap’s ParentEd talks for this school year have been released. The counselors have been to many talks in-person and virtually and the talks are always by leading experts, informative and interesting. This school year, all talks are virtual and you’ll receive a link to the talk if you miss the live virtual version. You can sign up for all of the talks for FREE: ParentMap.com/talks.

  • In need of counseling services for you, your child or someone else in your family?

    • Northshore School District contracts with Care Solace (https://www.caresolace.org/) to help families sign up and receiving counseling services more quickly. Please contact your child’s counselor if you’d like to sign up. Everything is confidential. Your child’s counselor only connects you with a representative to help you find services.
